Flooring cost calculator
What will your floor really cost?
Floor, removal, trim, stairs, furniture. Priced line by line.
How the number is built.
The calculator runs on the same rates our crews bill, and gives you three numbers: a fixed price for material, delivery, and installation; variable costs that depend on the site; and the total as a range. Each rate below is for the Sacramento region, with the Bay Area rate in brackets.
Installation per square foot of floor: $2.75 laminate ($3.00), $2.75 LVP ($3.15), $4.35 hardwood ($5.20). KONO laminate and LVP material is counted by the box and hardwood by the square foot, with 10% added for cuts; material costs the same in both regions. Delivery is optional: $300 ($700) on projects up to 3,000 sqft, larger orders priced separately.
Carpet comes out at $0.85 /sqft ($1.25); sheet vinyl, LVP and laminate at $1.00 /sqft ($1.30). Tile and hardwood are $5.00 /sqft ($5.50). Haul-away is $150 per truckload ($200), about 600 sqft each. Grinding only if glue or thinset is left once the old floor is out: $250 per hour in both regions, about 2 hours on a typical job.
Baseboard installation $2.05 per linear foot ($2.20), transition moldings $20 each ($40). Stairs $150 per step ($170), $170 on hardwood ($190). Heavy furniture moved out of the way and back at $80 per piece in both regions.
Free in the Sacramento region, $250 in the Bay Area. We laser-measure, count the trim, check the subfloor, and confirm the variable costs, each on its own line.
